Terms of Service
Last updated: June 27, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, subscribing to a Creator, or otherwise accessing or using Mealsio ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract to use Mealsio. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
3. Description of Service
Mealsio is a platform that enables recipe creators ("Creators") to publish recipes and meal plans, and offer them to subscribers ("Subscribers") via a monthly subscription. Creators set their own subscription price. Subscribers pay one monthly fee per creator to access all of that creator's premium content.
4. Mealsio's Role as a Platform
Mealsio is a technology platform and payment facilitator. Creators are independent sellers who use Mealsio's tools to publish content and sell subscriptions to their own audience. When a Subscriber subscribes to a Creator, the Creator — not Mealsio — is the seller and merchant of record for that transaction, and Mealsio is not a party to the agreement between a Creator and a Subscriber.
Mealsio does not create, endorse, or guarantee Creator content and is not responsible for a Creator's products, conduct, or business decisions. Any issue a Subscriber has with a Creator — including the quality or availability of content, a Creator changing or removing content, or a Creator leaving the platform — is between the Subscriber and that Creator. Mealsio may, but is not obligated to, help facilitate a resolution.
5. Accounts
You must create an account to use certain features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
6. Creator Terms
Creators are responsible for the content they publish. Content must not infringe any third-party rights, contain unlawful or harmful material, or violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use section below. Mealsio may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
To receive payments, Creators must complete Stripe Connect onboarding and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. As the seller and merchant of record, each Creator is solely responsible for their own tax obligations, including reporting and remitting any applicable taxes on their earnings. Mealsio does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice.
Mealsio retains an 8% platform fee from each subscription payment. The remaining 92% is paid out to the Creator via Stripe Connect, less Stripe's payment processing fees, which are billed to the Creator's connected account. See Stripe's pricing for details.
7. Subscriptions, Auto-Renewal, and Payments
Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. Your subscription automatically renews each month at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Mealsio and its payment processor to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.
You may cancel at any time from your My Subscriptions page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then and are not charged again. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy and the applicable Creator's refund terms.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Mealsio to publish, share, or do any of the following:
- Post content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share.
- Upload sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or harassing material.
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
- Distribute spam or malware, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or the rights of others.
We use automated and manual review to enforce these rules and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate them. Repeat copyright infringers are handled under our Copyright & DMCA Policy.
9. Recipe Content and Food Safety
Recipes, nutritional information, ingredient lists, and dietary or allergen labels on Mealsio are provided by Creators, not Mealsio. We do not test, verify, or guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or safety.
You are responsible for determining whether a recipe is appropriate for you, including checking for allergens and following safe food-handling practices. If you have a food allergy or medical condition, consult a qualified professional. You prepare and consume any recipe at your own risk, and Mealsio is not liable for any adverse reaction or harm resulting from content found on the Service.
10. Intellectual Property
Creators retain ownership of their recipes and content. By publishing on Mealsio, Creators grant Mealsio a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, cache, reproduce, index, adapt (for example, to create previews, thumbnails, and excerpts), display, and distribute their content: (a) to Subscribers as part of the paid Service; and (b) to the public in previews, search results, recommendations, and other discovery and promotional features intended to help people find Creators and content on Mealsio.
This license extends to Mealsio's service providers (such as hosting, content-delivery, and content-moderation providers) solely to operate and improve the Service. It does not permit Mealsio to sell a Creator's full content, or to license it to third parties for use outside the Mealsio Service. The license ends when content is removed, except for (i) copies retained in routine backups or caches for a reasonable period and (ii) previews already distributed.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mealsio disclaims all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Mealsio does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content — including recipes and Creator materials — is accurate, complete, or reliable. You use the Service and any content at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mealsio and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.
In no event will Mealsio's total liability for all claims relating to the Service exceed the greater of the total amount you paid to Mealsio in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the liability, or one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Mealsio and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) content you publish or share; (c) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law; or (d) your violation of the rights of any third party.
For Creators, this includes claims arising from your products, your content, your tax obligations, and your relationship with your Subscribers.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support.
15. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
Most concerns can be resolved informally. Before filing a claim, you agree to first contact us at support@mealsio.com and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute for at least 30 days.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and Mealsio agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court. Arbitration will be conducted by a recognized arbitration provider under its applicable rules.
Class-action waiver. You and Mealsio agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@mealsio.com with your name and a statement that you wish to opt out. Opting out will not affect any other part of these Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service, are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the Dispute Resolution section above, the state and federal courts located in New York will have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter not subject to arbitration.
17. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, by email or a notice on the Service) before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
18. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Copyright & DMCA Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Mealsio regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. Mealsio is not liable for any delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
